For those of you that haven't heard about it, there is an EQ Emulator server platform out there, allowing people to install, configure and customise their own EQ server. This technology has been around for a while and maybe isn't news to a lot of you. Recently, an EQ Emu server by the name of Project 1999 has been gaining momentum and more importantly, population. The server is 4 months old and already has over 400 players on during peak (american) times. During aussie peak times, it is usual to see around 200 players booting around the world. Project 1999 is making a splash because of one thing and one thing only: The developers have re-created a very close copy of Everquest as it was as of day 1

O.M.G. Even more 'newsworthy' material has hit my inbox today. I'm starting to worry about my continued chats with Jorp, who seems determined to feed me the latest news and such that is worthy of comment on ausMMO! That means work and effort and...ugh...thinking. So be it! This 'gem' is about the states in Australia and the related legislation regarding the classification/maturity rating of content in games. Yes, we've all seen the stickers saying 15+ or MA or whatever, and we take it for granted that games are rated for age suitability and content. Fair enough - who wants their 9 year old spanking pimps in GTA? But what some of you may not have noticed is that most MMO titles aren't actually rated... |

Well, aren't I just the little journalist today? I finished my blather about the Blizzard's DMCA win against Glider, just as I receive an email about Vanguard's 14 day free trial offer via (the unswervably evil) FilePlanet (bastards still wont cancel my idiot account with them). Basically, if you're a fileplanet subscriber, you can check out Vanguard, Saga of Heroes for 14 days without cost. So if you've liked the idea of Vanguard, but haven't bothered to get it, perhaps now is a good time to check it out. And even better - ausMMO has an awesome aussie Vanguard guild - Reverence that you can drop by and have a chat with already existing VG players. |

Quoting the introparagraph at arstechnica.com... Judge's ruling that WoW bot violates DMCA is troubling Glider, a popular WoW bot, took another hit on Wednesday as a federal judge ruled that the product went beyond copyright infringement to being a circumvention device under the DMCA. The decision raises serious questions about the legal status of interoperability and competition in the software industry. Wow, who would have thought that an MMO bot was a violation? However, there's more to the story if you can deal with legal concepts that surround this issue... |

Hi, my gamer name is Malucio and I play MMOs... and if you are on this website you probably do as well. I have been a gamer for several years and over this time span have played a wide variety of MMO games. Some I have loved, some I have hated and some I can’t understand why they were even invented. Through all my hours of grinding, leveling and attempting to be useful to the range of guilds I have been a part of, I am still yet to find that MMO that I feel I can call home.

An evil looking and foul-smelling diary was recently unearthed in the midden heap behind the famous Toothless Hoor Inn in Altdorf. Scholars have managed to piece together fragments of the scrawled and heavy handwriting of an unusually gruff and not altogether pleasant Dwarf Ironbreaker named Shaggus. Here for the first time are the uncensored private thoughts of a very angry little man. |
